This Is How; I Improved My Productivity as a Web Designer

Find out How, I improved my productivity as a Web Designer

As a web designer, we all find it, difficult to handle multiple tasks & clients every day. Activities keep on piling up & yet we are not able to cope up with it even though we know that we had sufficient time for completing all those tasks.

It used to happen to me all the time, but then I made small change in my daily working pattern & started to organize myself just a little and succeeded in completing all my tasks in time. Today, through this article I will share all the tweaks that I made to my work routine and how I was able to make my burdened days into productive ones.

My friends, things written in this post are pretty common and I’m sure you all will connect to it. Perhaps, you already know all these things and I’m just posting this as a reminder to address those small issues which take away your precious time and efficiency.

Prepare a list of most valuable activities (MVA) that you perform every day & can’t be delegated to anyone else
Most Valuable Activities (MVA) are those tasks that require the skill sets that only you posses in your organization. Listing down these MVA’s will give you clear idea of things that actually needs to be tackled & assign the ones that are non productive or repetitive tasks to your down line.

Set small & realistic goals for yourself
Break down your tasks into smaller ones & write them as your goals. As soon as you start achieving them you will feel focused, successful & start enjoying it.

Identify your productive time zones in day
every one is unique in a way & it is very obvious that you are more productive during a particular time of day. Identify your Productive zones and assign most important tasks to that time.

Schedule for Distractions
each one of us have their own set of distractions & it affects a lot on our productivity. Identify them & fix a time or quantify the no. of tasks you perform before you get into your distractions like social chitchat or any of your mobile apps. Also fix the duration of time you spend on it and jump back to your productive activities.

Don’t check your emails more than three times at work.
Reading daily emails is a very time consuming task & hence I would suggest you assign a timeslot to this activity during your work hours. I don’t check my email more than twice but you can decide that for yourself depending upon your convenience.

Learn on a daily basis
Web design & development is a very fast changing field. I suggest you gain knowledge on new tools & technologies of the trade on a daily basis. This will help you a lot & you would feel more confident about your skills as you refine them.

Keep your Computer up to date
Your computer is your factory as a web designer. You make your living through it. Make sure that it is maintained properly & has the latest configuration & tools. As a web designer we are sitting ducks without our tools and hardware. Thus keep a check on them so that it can cope up with your increased pace and not slow you down.

I hope this article serves its purpose & make you more efficient in time to come.
